Man thinks intelligence is how well you can think.

What can perceive enough of reality, adapt enough to it, overcome enough resistance, preserve enough structure, and continue into states that were previously unreachable?
That is intelligence at scale.
Cognition is one of its shadows.
I. MAN MISTAKES THE TOOL FOR THE FUNCTION
A brain thinks.
Fine.
But why did thinking emerge at all?
Because thinking changes what the organism can do.
Memory allows the past to alter the next move.
Prediction allows the organism to react before consequence arrives.
Abstraction allows one pattern to be transferred into another environment.
Planning allows a future state to influence present behavior.

III. INTELLIGENCE IS RELATIVE TO THE WALL

The waveform collapses.
You finally see what each structure can actually carry.
IV. FORWARD IS OLDER THAN THE BRAIN

Can it integrate new technology without destroying the substrate carrying it?
Can it move past structures that worked yesterday but fail tomorrow?
If not—
then the civilization may contain extraordinary intellect while behaving like a normal Titan running repeatedly into the same trap.
VI. THIS IS WHY GRAPHS CAN MISS THE OBJECT
Man loves proxies.
IQ.
GDP.
Test scores.
Productivity.
Market capitalization.
Number of papers.
Compute.
Followers.
Wealth.
All useful measurements.
None automatically equal intelligence at the highest scale.
Because a system can score beautifully while destroying the conditions required for its continuation.
A company can maximize quarterly profit while hollowing out its future.
A civilization can maximize consumption while degrading ecological stability.
An AI can maximize its objective while producing outcomes its creators never wanted.
A student can achieve perfect scores and be incapable of navigating life outside the institution.
So the final measurement cannot merely be:
How high did the number go?
It has to return to:
WHAT DID THE STRUCTURE BECOME CAPABLE OF?
Did the intelligence open viable possibility?
Or merely optimize itself deeper into a wall?
VII. TRUE INTELLIGENCE IS THE ABILITY TO UPDATE UNDER CONSEQUENCE
This is why failure itself doesn’t indicate stupidity.
The deeper test is:
What happens after contact?
A structure fails once and updates:
intelligent.
A structure fails ten thousand times while defending its identity:
functionally stupid.
The Female Titan gets trapped.
